
The Moscow Region and the Republic of Armenia are expanding their interactions and looking for new areas of cooperation
On the 23rd of October, 2020, Trade Mission of The Russian Federation in Armenia conducted an online business mission for representatives of the authorities and business of the Moscow region to the Republic of Armenia.
The event was attended by the representative of Trade Mission of The Russian Federation in Armenia Anna Donchenko, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region Anton Loginov, Deputy Executive Director of the Fund for Support of Foreign Economic Activity of the Moscow Region Maxim Cherepakhin, General Director of the Investment Promotion Center of the Republic of Armenia Levon Oganesyan, Executive Director of Chamber of Commerce and Industry RA Andranik Aleksanyan, Executive Director of Armenian Export Center Tigran Tadevosyan, as well as businessmen from the Moscow region and the Republic of Armenia.
During the videoconferencing, the parties discussed the current state of trade and economic ties, noting the high level of bilateral cooperation in recent years in almost all areas, with the exception of the oil and gas industry, as well as the growth of bilateral trade (according to data provided by the Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region Anton Loginov, at the end of the first half of 2020, export from the Moscow region to Armenia amounted to 60 million US dollars and import of goods from Armenia – about 45 million US dollars), including Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
The representative of Trade Mission of The Russian Federation in Armenia Anna Donchenko highlighted the perspective opportunities for increasing the export of products from the Moscow region to Armenia, first of all noting textile industry, personal protective equipment and medical devices for first aid, as well as food industry and Agro-Industrial Complex.
Exporting companies of the Moscow Region (9 companies) made presentations of their products, primarily on the food segment: oil, tea and coffee, dairy products, confectionery, canned products, etc.
As a result of the event, a number of agreements were reached on the continuation of the dialogue between the Armenian food products distributor Andako LLC and the Russian enterprises PK MAKA LLC (production of sauces), Chistaya Linia LLC (dairy products, ice cream production), as well as the Armenian food products importer “Sahakyan Sweet” and Russian companies “Peroni” (production of premium confectionery products, honey soufflé), “Royal Cane” (production of syrups).
Also, the Trade Representation together with the Fund for the Support of Foreign Economic Activity of the Moscow Region, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Armenian Export Center reached an agreement on the expediency of further joint work, including in connection with the temporary ban on imports of final consumption goods of Turkish origin into Armenia (which is more than 100 items of goods with a total value of more than 200 million US dollars) to replace these products with goods of Russian origin.
As a result of the videoconference it was agreed to hold a meeting next week between the Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region Anton Loginov with the leadership of the Armenian Export Center.
