“Hour with Russian Trade Mission”

On the 27th of October, the Trade Mission of The Russian Federation in Armenia held an online meeting in “Hour with Trade Representative” format for authority and business representatives of Tula region.

The event was attended by the Trade Mission of The Russian Federation representative in the Republic of Armenia Anna Donchenko, Minister of Economic Development of the Tula Region Marchel Keptenar, as well as at the invitation of the Trade Mission – Executive Director of Armenian Export Center” Tigran Tadevosyan, General Director of Moscow cultural and business center ” Moscow House” in Yerevan Vahram Karapetyan, Head of the Representative Office of JSC “Rosselkhozbank” in Armenia Artur Shekyan and interested Russian companies from Tula region.
During the videoconferencing the parties discussed the current state of trade and economic relations. Trade Mission Representative of Russia in Armenia Anna Donchenko reported on the high level of bilateral cooperation between the Tula region and Armenia in recent years, highlighting the successful business mission of representatives of the region to Armenia in 2019 and reciprocal business mission of Armenian companies to the Tula region in 2020.

At the same time Anna Donchenko spoke about the existing nomenclature of bilateral trade, as well as about perspective opportunities for increasing the export of products from the Tula region to Armenia, primarily noting the food industry, cars and equipment, products of textile and chemical industries, including the temporary ban on the import of end-use goods of Turkish origin into the Republic, introduced by the Government of Armenia from December 31, 2020.

The Minister of Economic Development of the Tula Region noted that in the first half of 2020, export from the Tula Region to Armenia amounted to 15 million US dollars and, in turn, reported on the most promising areas of foreign economic activity of business representatives of the Tula Region, and also drew attention to the efficiency of online negotiations, considering that the physical presence in Armenia is impossible.

Exporting companies of the Tula region (7 companies) gave presentations about their products for various segments – medical equipment, food products, metal products, office furniture, components for the mining industry, industry, metal products, composite materials, etc.
After presentations Artur Shekyan, Head of the Representative Office of Rosselkhozbank JSC in Armenia spoke about the bank’s capabilities to support Russian suppliers and producers of agricultural equipment, as well as non-commodity non-energy export in general.

Also, the executive director of the Armenian Export Center Tigran Tadevosyan expressed readiness to cooperate with the Tula enterprises with the direct participation of the Russian Trade Mission in Armenia, in order to provide access of Russian producers into the markets of China and Iran.

In addition, the parties considered the possibility of holding joint events of an interregional nature and participation of the House of Moscow in Yerevan in business missions of Russian companies organized by the Russian Trade Mission in Armenia. In particular, a proposal was received from Vahram Karapetyan to organize an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the death of L.N. Tolstoy.

As a result of the videoconferencing, an agreement was reached on further interaction of the Russian Trade Mission in Armenia with business representatives of the Tula region and the continuation of joint work to establish cooperation with Armenian partners in order to increase the export of products produced in the Tula region.
